Off we go!

It is a miracle, 36 women up and on the bus by 6:00 am.  Lots of 4:30 alarms.  The hotel had the breakfast set up early just for us.  There were a couple of alarm clocks that didn’t go off,   but just like the challenge of getting 400 quilts done and ending up with 610, the bus wheels were turning on time and everyone looked pretty darn good!!

Stories have been shared about a few husbands, one had the impression his wife was going on some “Casino trip” or something.  Another drove his wife to the pick-up spot on Monday and as the “Coach”  (saying bus will cost you 25, got to wonder what writing it will cost me!)  pulled in with the wonderful graphics on the windows, his comment was something like – “This is a big deal!  I thought you were dropping off a few quilts and coming home!! “.  Sorry guys, 36 women on a bus you know we will talk!  Just think of the drivers!

Back to business - I have to tell you, I don’t think any of us had any idea of how people would respond along the way.  Some are moved to tears and others are in awe. All wish us well and Thank us over and over.   We are very proud to represent all of the hard workers that helped accomplish this feet that couldn’t come with.  We look forward to sharing more with you when we get home.

Something you might not know.  Over the last few weeks we have asked some of our  local Sunday School kids and some 4th and 5th graders to write letters to the Soldiers.   We will leave these letters with Florence (our contact person) to be given out to Soldiers as they see fit.   We “peaked” at a few of these letters and they will defiantly have the power to brighten up someone's day.  “YOU ROCK!” seems to be a common sentiment.  Out of the mouths of babes!

We will soon be picking up out Motorcycle escort for the day.  We will try to post again this afternoon.  We will have soooo much to share.  Thanks for thinking of us.
