Just a few hours away!

The time is soon here to start our adventure!  The quilts have been loaded on the bus and are awaiting departure, a total of 610!!!!  Our bags are packed (I was told by many that they have been ready for several days) and the alarm clocks set.  We look forward to seeing some of you at our departure tomorrow morning and reading the comments that you leave.  Thank you for thinking of us and for your outpouring of love that we will take along with us for our Soldiers.

I would like to take a minute to thank a couple of other QOV groups that donated quilts to take with.  Hubbard County QOV which consists of a group in Park Rapids and also Grand Forks.  This is what they have to say about themselves:

"Hubbard County QOV has made and distributed several hundred QOV's since its start up in August 2007 with help and advice from the Perham Chapter.   Quilts have been distributed to hospitals as far away as Iraq and Alaska, and many quilts through Veteran Service Officers in Northern MN.  Now we are thrilled to be a part of the Ft. Knox mission.  We have a sister group from Grand Forks, ND that works independently in their homes through our Hubbard County Chapter who meet the second Tuesday of each month at the Park Rapids Library basement meeting room.  Several thousand dollars have been donated collectively from Itasca Mantrap Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up, VFW and DAV Grand Forks, Akeley Lion's Club, North Star Quilt Guild, Grand Forks; church groups; and many individuals and countless hours from long arm quilters of their time and talent!"

A special thanks to Helen Lucken from Minneapolis and Beth Cole from ND who also sent quilts for us.

  2. I was glad I didn't miss the bus at 5:00. Wish I could have stayed on with you. You all looked pretty wide awake. I'm sure you didn't sleep much before you arrived at the bus. Will be anxious to follow you on the trail. Safe travels.
