W hat a day! You will probably hear that a lot but around every turn is another surprise. Our exit from Underwood was encouraging and emotional. Everything is much “more” than we expected. To be treated so special is humbling and heartwarming. We will do our best to do you proud and to share your love and encouragement with the Soldiers we meet.
The escorts have been wonderful. We have had Fire Trucks along with Police escort with flashing lights leading us threw towns. The Motorcyclists have lead us with up to 8 at one time. It has been great to talk with them when we stop. They are so proud to be a part of this mission. The weather wasn’t warm but the respect and love in their hearts made up for it. Thank you all!!!
I talked a little about Clearwater earlier. We ate and were fortunate to be able to talk to several members that gathered about QOV. They enjoyed looking at the quilts and had lots of questions for us. Believe it or not – we were running about 20 minutes ahead of time so we stopped at a rest area. Once again things fell into place and some of the gals were asked about “What we were all about”. They explained what we do at QOV. The gentleman was so touched he told them about having surgery and being given a quilt before the operation and what a difference it had made for him. He was also a Vietnam Vet as he drove away he handed the girls a donation. He told them he knew what a difference the quilts would make.
In Tomah WI, the TV station greeted us and interviewed Jenny. You can check it out at www.wkbt.com . Both Sergeant Major Bissonnett and Colonel Chesser from Fort Mc Coy took time out of their days and came to talk to us. They stressed that they knew what a comfort these quilts were going to be to the men and women that received them. They each presented Jenny and Echo with Commanders Coins. These coins are given out by these officers to people, usually Soldiers, that have excelled and done something exceptional. What an honor or us all!!!
What a great day!

It is so great to be able to follow you on this journey. WKBT TV is from my home town of La Crosse. I'm feeling more & more that I should have forgotten my other obligation and gone on this trip. I'm waiting to hear about the milking contest.
